Before you Depart

Before departure, students must fulfill the following requirements:

Every program requires the full completion of an online application through Terra Dotta.

All students participating in an education abroad program for credit must complete either a course equivalency form, a course selection form, or an internship approval form.

Students must meet with their education abroad advisor in order to obtain the form.

Cadets should consult with the MLC to ensure programs do not interfere with their military requirements and are in line with their 104R planning.

Students can make payments online and should complete them on/before the specific deadlines found on their program page. If participating in a third party partner program, please visit their program website for information regarding payment methods and deadlines.

Payments for UNG programs can be made with a debit/credit card in your application portal. If you prefer to pay using cash/check, you must visit the CGE office for guidance.

All UNG students participating in Education Abroad are required to acquire international insurance for their time abroad. The students’ education abroad advisor will acquire this on the student’s behalf prior to departure. The University system of Georgia uses CISI Insurance.

The only exception to this are third party programs: CIEE, ISA, and ISEP. Insurance is then acquired through the provider.

4-6 weeks before departure, all UNG education abroad students will participate in mandatory Pre-Departure Orientation (PDO). Students’ education abroad advisors will reach out to them with a notification of the date for PDO.

Students may be required to secure a visa based upon their length of stay and host country. See your program brochure for requirements. For additional questions about visas, visit your host country’s embassy website.
